Scholarships

Each year, AAUW Fort Atkinson raises funds for both national and local scholarships.  Our primary fund raiser is our annual used book sale.  In addition, we have earnings from investments managed through the Fort Atkinson Community Foundation available to be awarded each year.

In 2024, we awarded seventeen local education scholarships for a total of $32,000.  Scholarships awarded since 1984 have totaled over $400,000.

Below is a list of the various scholarships awarded by AAUW Fort Atkinson:

  • AAUW Jane Shaw Knox Undergraduate Scholarship-for Bachelor degree completion.  Awarded to a Fort Atkinson graduate with at least 45 hours already completed, renewable for multiple years.

  • AAUW Second Chance Scholarship – for Vocational or Technical school students who have been out of mainstream education for at least one year.  Awarded to a Fort Atkinson graduate or resident with financial need or special family circumstances – often awarded to working mothers who are returning to school.

  • AAUW JEFFERSON Second Chance Scholarship – for Vocational or Technical school students who have been out of mainstream education for at least one year.  Awarded to a Jefferson graduate or resident with financial need or special family circumstances – often awarded to working mothers who are returning to school.

  • AAUW Jane Knox Graduate Scholarship – for pursuit of a post-graduate degree, for Fort Atkinson graduates or residents.

  • AAUW Grants for Gals – This is our newest scholarship, established in 2019. It is offered  to provide a grant to local girls and women to help meet an educational, cultural or professional advancement need.
